Well, what is it? An afternote

a side note/ extra research that wasn’t able to fit into my article/ wasn’t terribly relevant as he wasn’t there and had nothing to do with him personally… a mix of notes with article trappings— Was Anton LaVey A Fascist?

In his detailed book of collected recollections The Last Testament of Anton Szandor LaVey, the noise artist Boyd Rice presents a captioned picture (posted above) of the Doktor, Adam Parfrey and himself supposedly at the infamous 8-8-88 Satanist/Mansonite rally… or was it. Karla LaVey, eldest of the Black Pope’s children tentatively noted that her father had not been present that night and had been displeased to learn of its occurrence. 

Now, possibly this is Boyd misremembering the date and place of actual origin and slapping a relevant date to it for effect; blatant lying; or LaVey had been there sometime before, during or after and this being the sole remaining/ now available photo. 

Frankly none would be too unlikely of an option. But I personally will go with what Karla says.

Of the main bunch behind the 8-8-88 rally, all except Adam Parfrey made any real notes to the event since from what it appears. He is dead now however, so it’d be a little hard now. But his sister now runs Feral House, and with the way they are, if they had it they’d publish it, should he have any unreleased photos or anything of the sort on the performance. Not even detractors of LaVey such as Nikolas Schreck has posited such a claim, and I have a feeling he would had his presence been there. Or if he found out, Michael Aquino certainly would have made note of it…
